Certification Programs
Programs typically are either mat-only or comprehensive and include 200-500 hours of in-person coursework, anatomy training, and personal practice, observation, and supervised teaching hours. Most programs provide a certification of completion and nationally accredited certification is done through the National Pilates Certification Program.
What is Pilates?
Interest in Pilates has skyrocketed in the last several years. Offering a low-impact, primarily body-weight form of exercise that focuses on improving overall alignment, balance, strength, and stability, pilates is practiced by people at all stages of their fitness journey. Pilates focuses on integrating mind and body through a set of movement principles applied to a progression of movements and exercises. Together, these exercises aim to develop a strong, stable body and flexible spine to support proper posture and efficient movement patterns for daily life, sport, or any specialized activity.
Pilates is for everybody. It can be practiced one-on-one or in group classes, on a mat or with equipment such as a Pilates Reformer, a Cadillac, or the Chair. Pilates uses these studio machines originally invented by Joseph Pilates to provide a well-rounded and customized workout that is efficient, effective, and safe.
